Entry Requirements

Students attending a classTo apply for any Open Training College course, you must:

  • Be employed in human services for at least 1 year (and employed in or seeking a managerial position if applying for the management courses, or working with people seeking employment for the Supported Employment courses). However, applications may be accepted where exceptional circumstances are explained.
  • Be over 23 years of age by 1st September of year of application or have passed the Leaving Certificate
  • Have Agency support if applying for the Applied Social Studies course, and have completed Section 5 of the application form
  • Undertake to pay fees when due. The College regrets that fees, once paid, are non-refundable.
  • Have access to a computer with Internet access and a working knowledge, now or by the start date of your course, of navigating the web and using Microsoft Office – e.g. Word, PowerPoint.
  • Overseas applicants whose first language is not English must provide evidence of English proficiency. Please refer to Section 6 of the application form for a list of minimum requirements.

In addition, applicants for the BA (Hons) in Applied Social Studies (Disability):

  • Must hold an Ordinary degree in Social Studies, Social Care or equivalent (Those holding the National Diploma in Applied Social Studies (Disability) are also eligible to apply)
  • May be required to complete a bridging module prior to starting the programme

Those with sufficient prior experience and/or education may be eligible for advanced entry.
