Aim
The Higher Certificate in Arts in Applied Management offers those who are, or aspire to be, managers and deputy managers working in non-profit/human services an opportunity to further develop key management skills and explore in-depth management issues from the perspective of the non-profit/human services sector.
Who Is It For?
The course is designed specifically as an add-on programme for the holders of the Certificate in Applied Management. However, all relevant applications will be considered.
This course is open to applicants who:
- are, or aspire to be, managers, deputy managers or supervisors of two or more staff
- work, or are seeking work, at first-line and middle management level
- (Employment in non-profit/human services is not a pre-requisite for entry to this programme but, due to the applied nature of the programme, employment status will be considered in support of all applications.)
Certification
This is a HETAC approved major award at Level 6 on The National Framework of Qualifications.

This course consists of the following six modules:
- Managing the Organisational Environment – Organisational Structure, Culture & Values
- Managing Organisational Objectives – Organisation Mission, Aims & Objectives
- Managing Change – Professional Development & Change Management
- Managing Yourself (2) – Creative Problem Solving & Action Learning
- Managing Other People (3) – Human Resource Management
- Managing Finance (2) – Financial Management in the Non-profit Sector

While grounded in generic management, a major strength of this course is the application of advanced learning.
On successful completion of this course, graduates will be eligible to participate in the Bachelor of Arts in Applied Management (Non-Profit/Human Services).

FEES
The course fees for 2011/12 are €2,495.
Please note that students undertaking this course en route to the BA award, may be entitled to tax relief of 20%, a saving of approximately €500 for the student. Students are advised to contact their local inspector of taxes to confirm eligibility. More information and the relevant form is available here on the Revenue Commissioners’ website.
The College also supports all students with an annual fees instalment plan.

How to apply
Please note: Those students who are progressing from the Certificate in Applied Management to the Higher Certificate in Applied Management course are not required to complete the application form. Instead, those students will complete a Reregistration Form which will be supplied to them by their tutor. Only students who are applying to the College for the first time are required to complete the application form.
