The Partnership Approach and Three-Way Collaboration
Overview
Participation on some of our courses is a partnership between the Course Participant, the Employer Agency and the College. The role of each partner is illustrated in the diagram below.

The Employer Agency agrees to:
- pay a percentage of the fee, where funding permits
- facilitate the participant to attend workshops and examinations days, where required, as study leave
- provide a work-based Local Support Person acceptable to the College
- allow the participant to undertake work-based assignments as part of their regular duties
The Course Participant agrees to:
- make a commitment to pay the remaining fees on time
- complete course assignments
- attend the practical skills workshops when possible, and
- undertake personal study in their own time
The College agrees to:
- provide the open learning materials
- assign a tutor to the participant
- provide workshops, site visits and supervisors’ briefings
- co-ordinate the assessment and certification of the courses
Further Information
Under the Partnership Agreement, a portion of the course fee may be paid by the participant’s employer agency. In previous years this has ranged between 50% and 100%. Fee arrangements are agreed between the applicant and their agency prior to the commencement of the course. Please note, even if the Agency does not part-fund the student, the Partnership Agreement is still required.
Students and agencies must also agree arrangements in relation to time for attendance at workshops and/or examination days. Different arrangements apply for different agencies. The student/agency also nominate an on-site mentor/supervisor to support the student with agency matters. The person nominated must be acceptable to the College and be prepared to carry out the functions associated with the role.
