Aims
The Open Training College’s aims are to:
- Contribute to the development and delivery of quality services in the non-profit and health sectors by providing accredited training that is grounded in best practices and contemporary thinking
- Improve service levels in the following ways:
- improved quality of life to service-users
- enhanced skills, knowledge and attitudes for staff
- improved service quality, efficiency and effectiveness for agencies
- support agencies’ strategy of using accredited training to address service gaps
- provide high-quality, efficient and cost-effective training to participants and agencies
- facilitate front-line services staff to develop both personally and professionally and to foster best practices by providing accredited awards
- provide participants with the knowledge, skills and attitude to work in a range of front-line services and settings; for example, sheltered employment settings/workshops, local centres, residential settings, employment schemes, training centres, resource services and community based services
- promote awareness of disability issues within the wider context of social inclusion and marginalisation

The Open Training College is a HETAC and FETAC Registered Provider.
