‘QUALITY is the level of satisfaction with the
effectiveness of awarding bodies and providers of education
and training, their products and services, established through
conformity with standards and the achievement of excellence
demanded and contributed to by learners and other stakeholders’
National Qualifications Authority of Ireland Recent legislation specifies that quality assurance processes must form an integral part of the work of Irish Higher Education organisations. [Universities Act 1997, Qualification (Education and Training) Act 1999 ] The Open Training Collegeg's Quality Assurance Model was designed in accordance with Section 28 of the Qualification (Education and Training) Act 1999 and in March 2004 was approved by the Higher Education and Training Awards Council of Ireland (HETAC). The Quality Assurance policies and procedures have been designed to ascertain that every activity carried out by the Open Training College is completed to a quality standard within the context of the College's ethos, mission, guiding principles and pedagogical practice. The College has a designated Quality Assurance Coordinator whose role is to oversee the implementation of the policies and procedures outlined in the College's Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures manual.
