The Certificate in Applied Management is a minor award at Level 6 of the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). It offers managers and deputy managers working in disability services the opportunity to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to carry out the first-line management role effectively.

Course Participants
This six-module programme is suitable for managers, deputy managers or supervisors of two or more staff. While grounded in generic management, there is a significant applied element, which is a major strength of this course. As with all Open Training College courses this course is delivered through our Supported Open Learning Model.

Course Award
The College is currently developing a four-module add-on programme as a progression route for graduates of the minor certificate. Subject to accreditation approval, this add-on programme will lead to the 'Higher Certificate in Applied Management' award, which is a major award at Level 6 on the NFQ.

Entrance Criteria
The course is open to those employed in services for people with a disability, who have management or staff supervisory responsibilities in their day to day role.

The college reserves the right to amend courses as necessary and to postpone or cancel courses at its discretion.
