This Honours Bachelor of Arts Programme is a HETAC-accredited course at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). It is a 5-module add-on programme for eligible applicants (see below). This course has been designed and developed to encourage learners to become leaders and visionaries in their field. Graduates will have the knowledge, skills and competencies to shape the future development of high-quality, rights-driven services for people with disabilities.

Those who achieve this qualification will prove invaluable to their employer agencies. They will be able to meet the challenges arising from the changes in the sector. These include the move to statutory quality standards (NSDS), professionalisation of the social care role, effective service planning and implementing real person-centred services.

Course Award
Students who successfully complete the course will hold a qualification that is unsurpassed in the quality of its materials, approach and philosophy. This qualification will enable students to apply for posts with management responsibilities, including the Social Care Leader salary scale. Successful students will also have a progression route to study at Level 9 on the NFQ: Post-Graduate Diploma or Masters Degree.

Entrance Criteria
Applicants for this programme must hold an Ordinary Degree in Applied Social Studies or equivalent to be eligible to apply. Applicants may be required to successfully complete a bridging module prior to commencement of the programme.
