This Bachelor of Arts Programme is a HETAC accredited course at Level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). It replaces the Open Training College 's National Diploma in Applied Social Studies (Disability).

This course consists of 15 modules:

•  Modules 1 to 5 are foundation modules which provide the fundamental
skills and information necessary for working in services

•  Modules 6 to 10 introduce areas and skills increasingly more complex and challenging

•  Modules 11 to 15 require critical thinking and analytical skills and the ability
to undertake work related research. Module 15 is elective, and chosen from a pool

Course Participants
The course has been designed and developed for staff working in services for people with disabilities. It aims to provide them with cutting edge thinking and skills to assist them in providing excellent person-centred services.

Course Award
On completion of this course students will hold a primary qualification which is unsurpassed in the excellence of its materials, approach and philosophy. This qualification will enable students to apply for posts carrying the Social Care Professional salary scale, as it is one of the approved courses arising from the Joint Committee Report. Students will also have a progression route to studies at Level 8: Bachelor of Arts (Honours).
